The first iPhone 18 Pro teardown from REWA Technology suggests Apple has increased battery capacity to 4,056mAh, while making some internal repairs more complicated. The phone uses a larger battery connector and a multilayer cable arrangement, changes that add complexity when servicing the battery.

Apple has retained the basic opening procedure: technicians remove the bottom pentalobe screws, heat the front panel, then use a suction tool and alcohol to lift the display. The display flex cable is no longer secured with adhesive, but the redesigned front infrared camera is positioned toward a corner and connected through three separate cables, creating another potential repair hurdle.

The handset reportedly keeps the previous model’s external dimensions and can fit iPhone 17 Pro cases. It also has a smaller Dynamic Island and an under-display infrared camera. Meanwhile, the rear camera module retains a familiar cable layout and is said to be no more difficult to repair than before.

Inside, the A20 Pro chip sits near the surface of the logic board, while NAND storage and other components are arranged in a stacked design that remains relatively accessible. The main rear camera module is larger than its predecessor’s, although the teardown does not establish whether the increase comes from a larger image sensor or only a larger module; its physical variable-aperture mechanism also takes up additional space.
