Apple is reportedly testing a four-sided curved display and a hole-punch cutout for the front camera on its iPhone 20 Pro lineup, potentially replacing the Dynamic Island on the company’s 2027 flagship phones. The claim comes from tipster Digital Chat Station, and remains unconfirmed.
The alleged redesign would be a significant departure from earlier concepts that showed both Face ID hardware and the selfie camera hidden beneath the screen. Instead, the current report describes a visible circular cutout for the front camera, while the display curves subtly around all four edges to reduce the apparent bezel area.

Apple is reportedly working with Samsung on the specialized panel and is also said to be exploring the removal of the display’s polarizer layer. Samsung and LG are purportedly developing ways to reduce brightness loss around the curved portions of the screen.
A hole-punch camera would not be unprecedented in Apple’s reported product plans: the company’s iPhone Duo foldable is described as using the same type of cutout. Still, the iPhone 20 Pro devices are said to be in testing, and Apple’s design choices could change before the rumored September 2027 launch window.
