Xiaomi says its upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro series will use a Super Pixel 2.0 display with a hardware-based privacy feature intended to reduce the visibility of on-screen content from side angles. The company is scheduled to unveil the lineup in China on September 23.
The panel is rated for up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness and uses an M11 lighting system alongside an upgraded material. Xiaomi claims the combination improves luminous efficiency by 20 percent. An RGB pixel arrangement is also intended to improve image definition.
According to Xiaomi, Super Pixel 2.0 can deliver clarity comparable to a 2K display while drawing power closer to that of a 1.5K panel. Those claims will need independent testing, particularly for sustained brightness and power consumption in everyday use.
The privacy system, reportedly called Smart Privacy Display in HyperOS 4.0, appears to be more than a simple software overlay. Xiaomi has not explained its hardware implementation, but the feature is expected to limit side-angle visibility when enabled.
