Samsung could extend its Privacy Display technology beyond the Galaxy S26 Ultra in 2027. A report from South Korea says the feature is planned for the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra, while the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ may not receive it despite earlier expectations.
Privacy Display is an integrated OLED feature rather than a conventional privacy screen protector. It uses Samsung Display’s Flex Magic Pixel panel technology, placing a black matrix above part of the pixel structure to restrict light spreading sideways. That makes on-screen material harder to see from off-axis viewing angles.
The protection can reportedly be enabled across the entire display or limited to selected apps and notifications. Samsung’s Color Filter-on-Encapsulation technology is also expected to be part of the panel design, removing the conventional polarizer and creating room for the Flex Magic Pixel structure.
The Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra are also rumored to share other high-end hardware, including the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, a 200-megapixel main camera and a 16-megapixel front camera. Samsung’s 2027 lineup could include the Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro, S27 Ultra and S27 FE, with the first four expected early in the year and the FE model later.
Samsung is also said to be evaluating Privacy Display for future Galaxy Book laptops. The company has not confirmed either the S27 lineup or a Galaxy Book implementation, leaving the scope and timing of any wider rollout unresolved.
