The first iPhone 3G unlocking software solution was introduced to us all via Qik and we’ve got the iPhone Dev Team to thank for their hard work and MuscleNerd for the video below:

The software’s known as “yellowsn0w” and, as you can see in the video, it works perfectly. You’ll notice that MuscleNerd logs into his iPhone via a terminal, but there will also be a more user-friendly way to unlock the handset, made available on New Year’s Eve.

Will anyone be keeping an eye out on New Year’s Eve? Of will you go for hardware unlocking? Also, will Apple release a firmware update, that kills this unlocking solution? More of that… probably in 2009.
