LG is bringing its Fit & Max design approach to washing machines and dryers at IFA 2026, promising up to 3 kg of extra capacity while retaining the same external appliance dimensions. The company says the redesign is intended to make better use of internal volume while allowing the machines to fit more cleanly into built-in or space-constrained laundry setups.
The largest stated gain is 3 kg over LG’s F4J8J family in a 600 mm-deep chassis. LG also cites a 2 kg capacity increase compared with the F4J8V family at a 550 mm depth. Those figures are comparisons with previous models of matching exterior size, rather than a claim that every Fit & Max appliance receives the same increase.
LG attributes the added drum space to a reworked internal structure and its Direct Drive inverter motor control, which it says reduces vibration and frees up room inside the unit. The new machines also use a slide-in design with flat fronts intended to sit more flush with surrounding cabinetry.
The laundry range will include AI Wash, which can consider load weight and fabric characteristics to adjust drum motion, and AI Dry, which monitors factors including moisture levels to adapt drying temperature and cycle time. LG notes that these automated functions have limitations depending on the amount and types of materials in a load.
Fit & Max began in LG’s refrigerator lineup and is now being positioned as a broader appliance strategy within the company’s AI Home ecosystem. LG has not yet identified the specific washer and dryer model numbers, individual capacities, pricing or market availability, leaving those details for a later announcement.
