Nothing has begun rolling out the stable Nothing OS 5.0 update, based on Android 17, to four more smartphones after first releasing it for the Phone (3). Distribution is phased, so the update may take time to appear on every eligible device.

The release refreshes the system’s visual design with a new Translucent theme that combines a frosted-glass effect with wallpaper-derived colors. Other interface changes include the Geist font, redesigned Settings menus, two new lock-screen clock styles with customizable colors, and the ability to organize home-screen icons into groups.

Nothing is also adding a dedicated Glyph app, alongside Collector, Away Time and Glyph Timer widgets. Notifications and Quick Settings now occupy separate panels, Bluetooth devices can be connected or disconnected with one tap, and the status bar gains a three-color indicator for sensitive-information access, location use and AI processing.

Additional system features include Expanded Dark mode, which applies a dark appearance to many apps without native dark-mode support, Enhanced HDR brightness adjustment, Noto 3D emoji in Gboard, and improved presentation of live updates.

All four phones receive a revised Camera interface and improvements to video recording, zoom, close-up shooting and QR-code scanning. The Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro additionally gain Tuning, offering seven adjustable effects, updated presets, a 2×2 widget and video filters.

Dual-view Video, which records with the front and main cameras simultaneously, is available across the four updated models. On the Phone (4a) series, Essential Voice transcriptions are also said to be faster. Users can check for the update under Settings > System > System update, with rollout timing varying by device.
