OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 16 will carry a 9,000mAh battery, a substantial increase over the 7,300mAh cell in the OnePlus 15. The new flagship is scheduled to launch in China on October 12, but its international availability is increasingly uncertain.

The company has also confirmed 50W wireless charging. At 1,700mAh larger than its predecessor’s battery, the OnePlus 16 represents an approximately 23% capacity increase on paper.

Other confirmed and reported hardware details point to an unusually aggressive flagship configuration, including a 200MP main camera, Qualcomm’s next flagship processor, and a display capable of reaching up to 185Hz. OnePlus says the panel will support a 165Hz system-level refresh rate.

Global rollout remains in doubt

The OnePlus 16 is not expected to receive an official launch in Europe or North America. OnePlus confirmed earlier that it would stop launching new products in those markets, while continuing software support, security updates, and services for devices already sold there.

India had remained a possible major market for the device, but tipster Yogesh Brar has claimed that OnePlus may shift its Indian strategy in 2027, positioning the OnePlus 16R as its primary flagship alongside the Nord and N lines. OnePlus has not confirmed that plan, so the OnePlus 16’s availability in India remains a rumor rather than an announced decision.

That leaves the OnePlus 16 potentially close to a China-exclusive flagship despite its high-end specifications. OnePlus has already shown the handset’s design and three color options, while the October 12 China event should clarify the complete hardware configuration and whether any additional markets are planned.
