Samsung turned rumour into announcement yesterday, by informing the press and public about the official device (13.8mm) and a camera that comes with X16 digital zoom, auto focus, fast shutter, geo tagging and face detection.

Pixon’s got a fairly rich specs list, which also includes a 3.2 inch touchscreen, a photo browser, FM radio (RDS) and multimedia playback (audio – MP3, AAC, e-AAC+ and WMA; video – MPEG4, WMV, DivX, XviD). As far as connectivity goes, the new Samsung supports quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and HSDPA 7.2 Mbps (2100 MHz).

Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 and TV out are also there, accompanied by online widgets (News, Weather, Stock) and the ability to record/play videos. The recording will be done at 30 fps (720 x 480 pixels) or 120 fps (QVGA) plus there’s a slow motion option for it. Pixon’s internal memory is 200 MB, but you can up it thanks to the microSD slot.

The handset’s got a 1000 mAh battery, that gives it enough juice for 3 hours and 40 minutes of talking and 290 hours of standby.
