TCL has expanded its tablet range with the TAB A1 family, a four-model lineup that combines 11-inch and 12.2-inch formats with a choice of standard displays or the company’s NXTPAPER screen treatment. All versions run Android 16, while the NXTPAPER models add a matte, low-reflection LCD experience aimed at more comfortable reading and extended screen time.
The 11-inch TCL TAB A1 and TAB A1 NXTPAPER share a 2.1K, up-to-90Hz display, a MediaTek Helio G100 chipset, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, microSD expansion and an 8,000mAh battery. NXTPAPER is not an E Ink panel: it is an LCD with anti-glare and anti-reflection treatments, hardware blue-light control, and Standard, Color Paper and Ink Paper viewing modes.
TCL is also positioning the 11-inch NXTPAPER version for younger users. Select configurations can include a Kid-Proof Case with an integrated stand and passive stylus, alongside Google Kids Space and Family Link. Some bundles include 30 days of Lingokids Premium, rather than an ongoing subscription.
At the larger end, the TAB A1 Plus moves to a 12.2-inch 3:2 display with 2.4K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. The regular model has 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, an 8,000mAh battery and 20W charging. The TAB A1 Plus NXTPAPER increases storage to 256GB and pairs its NXTPAPER display with a 10,000mAh battery and 33W charging.
The Plus models support TCL’s T-Pen 2, which offers 4,096 pressure levels, and a Smart Keyboard Case. TCL also lists split-screen multitasking, floating windows and RAM Expansion among the software features. Gemini, Circle to Search, Writing Assist, Smart Translator and TCL Note are part of the broader software package, although feature availability may vary by model and market.
In Italy, the standard TCL TAB A1 starts at €219.90, while the TAB A1 Plus starts at €249.90. TCL had not published a single Europe-wide price for the NXTPAPER editions or the Kid-Proof Case bundles, leaving their final regional pricing and availability to be confirmed.
