Xiaomi Pocophone F1 has received a lot of traction recently, thanks to some leaks and also thanks to our little unboxing. We did a few days ago on video and now we’re back with more details. First of all the handset isn’t even official yet and it’s going to debut on August 22nd, at least in India.

Priced at just $480 or so, the product is one of the most affordable Snapdragon 845 phones out there, if not the most affordable. Of course, there’s also the Meizu 16, but that’s another story for another day. The handset represents a novelty, the inauguration of the Pocophone brand from Xiaomi, which I’m sure is here to stay. This device has a plastic back, a polycarbonate cheap back, which you may feel tempted to hide with a case.

Luckily one is provided in the box. Also in the box is an USB Type-C cable, manual, charger and a metal key used to access the slots. The device is available in graphite black and it comes with a notch upfront. Xiaomi Pocophone F1 packs a 5.99 inch IPS LCD Full HD+ screen, a Snapdragon 845 CPU and 6 GB of RAM. Not a bad deal for below $500. There’s also 128 GB of storage and a microSD Card slot, plus a 4000 mAh battery, which I can already tease.

Boys and gals, it’s a fantastic battery that easily gets a day of usage, even hardcore usage. There’s also a dual back camera here, with a 12 MP + 5 MP sensor, plus a 20 MP front shooter for selfies. We also have an infrared face unlock mechanism. This whole thing runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 on top. Just in case you were wondering, there’s also an audio jack here, so no problem with that.

We’ll be back with a full review around the launch date of August 22nd, but I feel that the device has an excellent battery already and it’s certainly a top 5 material in that area. And yes, the back feels cheap, but the price justifies it.
