Indian phone maker Xolo is debuting next week a new smartphone dubbed Play 8X-1000, that adopts a brand new UI dubbed Hive UI. August 6th is when the debut event takes place and the company has already sent out press invites, like the one shown below.

The invite doesn’t mention any details about the device, but we do know that the newcomer will be the first smartphone with this Hive UI on board. Rumors claim that the Xolo Play 8X-1000 will feature a 5 inch HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and it will have an octa core processor inside, as well as 2 GB of RAM. The new interface is based on Android KitKat and it also brings a new Quick Settings area, with circular controls, that allow you to adjust brightness, control volume levels and set the screen timeout.

There’s a Media Centre also included in the experience with last.fm integration for recommendations and a new Contacts Book that allows you to access all the conversations with a contact in a single thread. Finally, there are custom themes, a customizable app drawer and many more options. This sounds like a new alternative out there for the current ROMs and launchers and hopefully it will also be up for download at some point.
