Xiaomi has decided to live stream its January 15th event, complete with English translation. The event will mark the debut of a new handset, probably the Xiaomi Mi5, or the Mi4s, as some press outlets have been saying.

The interesting bit is that fans in China will be able to follow the event on Youku.com or via the Xiaomi Weibo stream. The stream will also be broadcast on the Xiaomi home page, by the way. If you live outside China, you have to access the Xiaomi Singapore website, that will host both the event live stream and an English translation. The event takes place on January 15th, at 2 PM Beijing time.

It’s important to mention that Xiaomi and Youku entered a strategic partnership to jointly develop content and technology a while ago, so that’s why they’re broadcasting the event. As far as the new phone is concerned, the Xiaomi Mi5 is said to be very thin, at 6.1 mm and it will bring a 5.2 inch display, a 20 MP camera and a Snapdragon 805 processor, according to rumors.
