Apple’s next iPad mini may cost about $799, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a reported price that would put the compact tablet roughly $200 above the current $599 reference point. Apple has not announced the device, its price or its release date.
The reported model is expected to switch to an OLED display, bringing the deeper blacks and higher contrast associated with the panel technology. Gurman also points to an A20 Pro processor, a revised speaker system and a relocated front-facing camera.
At $799, the new iPad mini would be about 33% more expensive than the current $599 configuration. The increase would be still more pronounced against the iPad mini 7’s $499 launch price in October 2024, amounting to roughly 60% if the estimate proves accurate.
One key display detail remains unresolved: ProMotion. Earlier reporting has suggested the OLED iPad mini could retain a 60Hz refresh rate rather than gain Apple’s higher-refresh-rate technology. That specification has not been confirmed, but it would be a notable limitation for a tablet positioned near $800.
The compact-tablet segment is no longer entirely without fast OLED alternatives. OPPO’s Pad Mini launched in China with an 8.8-inch, 144Hz OLED display, although its availability and software ecosystem differ from Apple’s. The comparison underlines the pressure on Apple to make an OLED iPad mini’s broader hardware and software package justify any major price rise.
The next iPad mini is expected toward the end of October. Its refresh rate and base storage configuration will be important remaining details, particularly if Apple is preparing a substantially higher starting price.
