Acer’s PM161Q B is built around a straightforward mobile-work proposition: add a 15.6-inch Full HD screen to a laptop setup without carrying a conventional desktop monitor. After two weeks of use for research, editing and auxiliary windows, the portable display proved most useful when a laptop’s single panel became restrictive.
The IPS panel has a matte anti-glare finish and a 1,920 × 1,080-pixel resolution. At this size, Full HD provides workable space for documents, browser windows, reference material and editing tools, while keeping the monitor compact enough for travel. The panel runs at 60 Hz, has a quoted 4 ms GTG response time, 250-nit brightness and 45% NTSC color coverage.

Two USB-C ports and HDMI 1.4 give the PM161Q B more flexibility than a USB-C-only portable display. A compatible laptop can use USB-C for a simple connection, but the source device must support video output over USB-C; the connector alone does not guarantee it. The HDMI input broadens support for devices that cannot send video through USB-C, including docked systems and consoles.
The same condition applies to smartphones. A phone with USB-C video output can drive the display for presentations, documents, photos or games, but many handsets do not provide that capability. Buyers should verify DisplayPort Alt Mode or their device’s equivalent video-output support before relying on a single-cable setup.
For indoor work, the 250-nit panel and matte coating are adequate for offices, hotel rooms and other controlled-light environments. They are less suited to bright outdoor use. Likewise, the 45% NTSC gamut makes this a poor fit for color-critical grading, though it remains serviceable for timeline work, footage selection and previewing.
Gaming is possible through the HDMI connection, and the Full HD resolution is a sensible match for portable gaming hardware. The 60 Hz ceiling is the limiting factor: it will not take advantage of games that can run at 120 fps or above, making the PM161Q B better aligned with casual, single-player, strategy and indie titles than competitive play.

Acer has used the PM161Q name for several configurations, so the suffix matters. The older PM161Q had one USB-C port, 220-nit brightness, a roughly 790 g weight and a 20 mm chassis. The PM161Q B1miuux reviewed here adds a second USB-C port and HDMI, raises brightness to 250 nits, and is listed at 10.2 mm thick.
The PM161Q B supports up to 90 degrees of tilt and VESA 75 × 75 mm mounting. Acer has also announced the PM161Q JB, a version with tripod support that is scheduled to become available in Europe during the first quarter of 2027. International pricing and availability for the PM161Q B1miuux were not confirmed in the material reviewed.
