ADATA’s IFA 2026 lineup stretched from a portable SSD unlocked with a phone to 128GB DDR5 server memory modules, underscoring how the company is targeting consumer, industrial and AI infrastructure markets as demand for high-capacity memory intensifies.

The consumer-facing highlight was the ADATA URBAN TAPSAFE, an external SSD that uses NFC and a companion app as an access-control mechanism. Once its protection is enabled, connecting the drive over USB alone does not provide access to its data; an authenticated phone effectively acts as its key. This is NFC-based access control rather than a stated hardware-encryption claim.

ADATA rates the URBAN TAPSAFE for USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 transfers of up to 1,900 MB/s for both reads and writes. Available product listings indicate 1TB and 2TB capacities, though broader regional availability was not detailed at the event.

At the other end of the portfolio, ADATA Industrial showed memory and storage intended for embedded systems, wearables, AR/VR hardware and deployments where environmental resilience matters more than peak benchmark performance. The company offers industrial SSDs and memory rated for operation from -40°C to 85°C, as well as products aimed at vibration resistance, continuous operation and data protection.

Consistency is a central requirement in those deployments. ADATA said it can provide fixed bill-of-materials policies for industrial customers, keeping validated controller, NAND and PCB configurations unchanged rather than silently substituting components. A change can force costly revalidation for factory equipment, where unplanned downtime may be far more expensive than the storage hardware itself.

ADATA’s enterprise TRUSTA line, meanwhile, included PCIe Gen5 SSDs in U.2, E1.S and E3.S form factors, plus DDR5 R-DIMMs with capacities up to 128GB per module. Eight such DIMMs add up to 1TB of system memory, although modern server platforms can be configured with substantially more.

The company linked that enterprise hardware to the continuing pressure on DRAM supply. ADATA has said memory producers are directing more capacity toward HBM and server memory while PC and mobile segments receive a smaller share, a shift it expects to keep the DRAM market tight and prices under pressure. Chairman Simon Chen said in July that shortages could persist for years, though that outlook remains a company assessment rather than a confirmed industry forecast.

ADATA’s XPG gaming division addressed the same memory market from a performance angle, with factory-validated frequencies and timings for its consumer RAM products. Beyond those rated settings, achievable overclocks still depend on the motherboard, CPU memory controller, individual memory chips and system-level tuning.

The key outstanding details for the URBAN TAPSAFE are its full regional rollout and pricing. Its NFC access approach arrives as ADATA is also positioning industrial reliability and high-density server memory as increasingly important parts of its storage business.
