Cyanogen is at it again, porting Android 2.1 on G1 and myTouch 3G, unlikely choices for such updates, at least on the official side of things. This is good news, for those of you who rushed and bought the very first Android devices, but let’s see how the port works, in the video below:

Hardware accelerated graphics a la Android 2.1 are available on HTC Dream (G1), Magic and Sapphire right now, thanks to the CyanogenMod 5.0.7. Twitter rumours say that the ROM is nearly ready and it should be out any minute. Last we heard, Cyanogen had “two more bugs to kill”, before releasing his port on the interwebs.

Test1 public beta release should be available tomorrow, so stay tuned for more info!
