Apple CEO John Ternus was filmed unfolding the company’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, on the Emmy Awards red carpet on September 14. The public appearance offered an unscripted look at the device ahead of commercial availability, while reports said Hollywood celebrities were already asking about early access.
According to Page Six, Ternus also attended a private party before the ceremony, where he met actors and other entertainment-industry figures. One Hollywood executive said celebrities had asked the Apple chief to put them on a waiting list for the iPhone Duo. No names, allocations or promised units have been confirmed.
Footage from the red-carpet encounter shows Ternus taking the handset from his pocket and opening it for reporters. The inner display appears relatively dark in the recording, although the camera exposure makes its actual brightness impossible to assess.
The iPhone Duo has a 7.6-inch inner display and uses a matte nanotexture finish intended to reduce reflections and make the central fold less noticeable. Its screen-transition animation has also been recreated on the Galaxy Z Fold8, with a simulation of the effect appearing on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Apple is scheduled to open iPhone Duo preorders on October 16, with deliveries beginning October 23. Celebrity interest does not establish how the foldable will perform at retail, and details on any special early-access arrangements remain unconfirmed.
