Google has begun rolling out a Chrome Autofill upgrade that can retrieve information from a user’s Gmail inbox and place it into web forms. Powered by Gemini with Personal Intelligence, the feature is intended to reduce the need to switch between a form and an email confirmation to copy a required code or reference number.

  • Order numbers
  • Package-tracking details
  • Flight reservation information

The rollout started in the US on October 28 for Chrome on desktop, Android and iOS, for eligible accounts with the required integration enabled. Traditional Autofill has largely focused on names, addresses and payment-card details; the new capability searches incoming emails for relevant information and marks its suggestions with a Gemini indicator.

Users can open the source email from the suggestion menu to verify where a detail came from. An outdated or unwanted suggestion can be removed without deleting the original Gmail message, although Gmail-derived information cannot be edited directly in Chrome.

The inbox connection also creates a new data-handling consideration. Google says sensitive data is encrypted and that access can be managed through settings. Its technical documentation for AI Autofill notes that form structures and searches entered through “Find and Fill with Gemini” may be sent to Google’s servers for processing.

Personal Intelligence is not currently available in several regions, which keeps this Chrome integration out of reach there.

  • European Economic Area
  • United Kingdom
  • Switzerland

Eligibility also requires a personal Google account, a user aged at least 18, and activity retention to be enabled. The feature is unavailable for the following account types:

  • Work accounts
  • School accounts
  • Supervised accounts
