We’ve never tested a Coolpad handset before, but apparently this brand is a big deal in China, being one of the biggest smartphone makers in the country. Thus we proceeded to test the Coolpad Modena, that’s unboxed below.

Priced at $160, this model comes inside a regular white box, quite wide and flat. The handset measures 8.6 mm in thickness, weighs 158 grams and packs a 5.5 inch IPS display with a 960 x 540 pixel resolution. Inside the phone we find a quad core Snapdragon 410 64 bit 1.2 GHz chipset, 8 GB of storage and a microSD card slot that offers support for up to 32 GB.

1 GB of RAM and a main 8 MP camera are also here, as well as a 2 MP shooter upfront. This handset runs Android 5.1, uses dual SIM slots and offers dual standby, as well as Android 5.1 as the OS. It does LTE Category 4 and packs a 2500 mAh battery, with 10 hours of talk time promised. I noticed that the camera UI is not bad at all and neither is the customized version of Android here.
