Through the guys from patentlyapple.com we get to know today about the desire of the popular Chinese OEM Foxconn to acquire a little stake in Sharp. It seems that Foxconn plans such a initiative in order to get access to the Sharp patents regarding a new backlight technology for display panels.

According to a report from November last year, Foxconn wants to implement this new technology in display panels for future Apple iDevices. We get to know in the same time that Foxconn is getting ready to make a generous offer for Sharp in the next couple of weeks.

Gou Tai-ming, on of Foxconn’s founders, recently said that the company intention is to invest in Sharp and to gain a management role. Later Foxconn plans to achieve other win-win situation for both parties, like cross-licensing or tranfer of patented technologies.
