Google is rolling out a redesigned Google Play experience for vehicles with Google built-in, with a more adaptive interface and app discovery that changes according to whether the car is parked or moving. The update is due to arrive automatically on compatible models in the coming weeks.

The new store adds redesigned search, simpler menus and curated collections filtered by vehicle state. Its interface is designed to adapt to different dashboard display sizes, orientations and shapes. Google says the platform is already available in more than 100 vehicle models from 16 automakers and includes more than 700 dedicated apps.

YouTube Premium subscribers will be able to start watching a video on the vehicle display while parked. When the gear selector is moved to Drive, the screen stops video playback for safety while the audio continues in the background.

The updated Play experience will also be integrated into GM vehicles, including the next-generation 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500. Those models are set to pair large central displays with Google Maps, rapid app downloads and Gemini voice-assistant queries. Google has not detailed the exact model-by-model rollout schedule beyond the coming weeks.
