Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders rose 436% on August 27 compared with the previous day, according to Sensor Tower estimates cited by Notebookcheck. Across August 27 and 28, estimated pre-orders were 572% above the prior 30-day average. The figures are market estimates rather than sales data officially reported by Take-Two.
The jump followed Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, a nearly 27-minute presentation that debuted on Netflix six hours before reaching Rockstar’s channels. The footage was captured entirely on PlayStation 5 and offered a more extensive view of the game than its earlier trailers.
Sensor Tower’s platform-level estimates show a larger relative increase for PlayStation: PS5 pre-orders were up 606% on August 27, while Xbox pre-orders increased 127%. Those percentages are measured against each platform’s own prior baseline, so they do not directly represent market share or a same-day unit-sales comparison.
PlayStation already held a substantial estimated lead before the presentation. Sensor Tower had put pre-orders at 3.15 million on PlayStation and 930,000 on Xbox through July 20, while Notebookcheck estimated roughly 4.55 million combined pre-orders before the Netflix event. Netflix also gained app visibility, with its app reaching No. 35 in the App Store ranking tracked by Sensor Tower after climbing 61 places in one day. GTA VI remains scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
