HONOR has officially revealed the Magic9 Pro Max, confirming a major camera-focused redesign ahead of the phone’s September 28 launch event in Beijing. The flagship uses a wide horizontal rear camera island divided into three circular sections, carries ARRI branding, and includes a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with optical image stabilization.
The 200MP periscope camera uses a 1/1.4-inch sensor, making it one of the most substantial confirmed details of the imaging system so far. Earlier reports have also pointed to a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, but HONOR has not confirmed that specification. As a result, the rumored dual-200MP setup remains unverified.
The new camera layout moves away from the centrally placed Eye of Muse module associated with several previous Magic generations. Its asymmetric, landscape-oriented arrangement is a clear break from the Magic8 Pro design and puts the imaging hardware at the center of the Magic9 Pro Max’s visual identity.
Images also suggest compatibility with an external-lens kit. A professional camera grip and G200 and G500 teleconverters have been reported previously, with the G500 rumored to offer a 500mm-equivalent focal length, but HONOR has yet to announce either accessory.
ARRI’s logo on the module points to a deeper imaging collaboration than branding alone. HONOR has previously said that technologies developed with ARRI for its Robot Phone concept, including LogC3 and tools aimed at cinematic color and video capture, would reach the Magic line. The Magic9 Pro Max appears to be the first commercial handset directly tying that work to the flagship series.
HONOR has confirmed the September 28 Beijing event, while full camera specifications, external accessory availability and pricing remain to be detailed. The company has previously denied reports of major supply constraints and higher-than-expected prices, without disclosing final figures.
