Huawei may be preparing a Nova-branded foldable with a much wider display, according to a new leak. Tipster SmartPikachu says the device could use a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio, rather than the 20:9 format reported for the Nova Flip S.
Such a change would mark a notable move away from the compact, vertically folding approach associated with the Nova Flip line. A 16:9 or 16:10 panel would provide a more landscape-oriented viewing area than the taller 20:9 format.
The Nova foldable is one of two Huawei projects mentioned in the leak. The other is the Nova 17 series, which is expected by the end of 2026 and is said to bring significant camera improvements.
Huawei introduced the first Nova Flip in August 2024 as an effort to bring foldables to a more accessible segment of its lineup. Later models have largely retained the same external design formula, making the rumored wider format a potentially significant redesign.
Huawei has not acknowledged the new Nova foldable or confirmed any of its specifications. The rumored launch window stretches from late 2026 into early 2027, so the final design and timing remain unverified.
