Intel has just announced the updated Atom CPU, known as Intel Atom Pine N470 and providing a speed of 1.83 GHz. Its power consumption is 5.5W, enough to provide a long battery life for any device. This chipset supports DDR2 and will probably reach loads of netbooks.

The new CPU will be incorporated in devices in the coming months, providing a long battery life, support for multitasking and great UIs and graphics. Among the first companies to benefit from this innovation will be Acer and ASUS, traditionally basing their products on Intel’s solutions, plus Sony, ready for another Vaio device or two.
