Remember Microsoft’s Kin One and Two handsets? If you’ve been wondering why the Redmond giant has said nothing about the sales of the devices, it might be the fact that they were extremely poor and that they’re cancelling the Kin project.

Yes, that’s right, the Kin is dead, according to sources close to Microsoft. Tech support will still be there, but there’s no telling if the few users who own Kin phones will get software updates in the future. As far as the team working on Kin is concerned, it’ll be integrated into the Windows Phone 7 core.

Last we heard, unofficial sources claimed that Microsoft had sold a mere 500 Kins, which is incredibly poor, specially for a project costing millions. One of the reasons for the failure was the high price of the monthly Verizon service bundled with the phone, not accessible for a device wanting to be the next Sidekick, specially for teens.
