Verizon and Motorola have officially announced today that they’ll be launching the Droid RAZR HD smartphone on October 18th on the Big Red. The international RAZR HD is already available in Canada and it was bound to come to Verizon at some point. That point is October 18th and it will be accompanied by the RAZR MAXX HD.

The price tag for the RAZR HD is $199, while the Droid RAZR MAXX HD is $299 and comes with a massive battery. The RAZR HD offers 16 GB of storage and it’s available in black or white. Motorola and Verizon will offer the MAXX HD with 32 GB of storage and it will only be available in black. Other specs include a 4.7 inch AMOLED screen, 1 GB of RAM and a 1.5 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor, while at the back is an 8 megapixel camera.

Android 4.0 ICS is the OS here, although Jelly Bean would have been much more welcome at this point of the year. Kevlar coating is present at the back for extra durability, in case you want to subject it to various minor shocks. So, will you pick this model up or wait for the Galaxy Note II?
