Nothing will launch its first AI-native hardware product in December, with CEO Carl Pei positioning the display-free device as a productivity-focused tool rather than another screen to add to a daily routine. A teaser shows a dark, matte-finished device with rounded corners alongside the message “Coming Soon.”

The new hardware is intended to connect with Nothing’s wider hardware and software ecosystem. That includes Essential Space, the company’s existing feature for organizing screenshots and voice notes, then producing summaries, suggestions and actions from that material.

In his “Toolmakers” essay, Pei argues that consumer-focused AI wearables such as badges, pendants and glasses may be arriving before the technology has found its strongest mass-market form. He compares the current stage to the early era of pagers and car phones, when the technology existed but its eventual mainstream role was still unclear.

Pei’s argument centers on AI context: while current models can already handle many tasks, they often require users to manually provide explanations, screenshots and information spread across apps before they can help. He sees more immediate value in professional areas including programming, IT infrastructure, legal work and customer support. Nothing has not yet detailed the product’s specifications, price or wider availability.
