The OnePlus 16R could bring back a dedicated telephoto camera, addressing a feature absent from the OnePlus 15R. Tipster Yogesh Brar says the handset may have reached PVT, or production validation testing, ahead of mass production.
The reported camera setup includes three 50-megapixel sensors, with one assigned to telephoto duties. The leak does not specify the optical zoom level, sensor sizes or other imaging hardware details.
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, also used in the OnePlus 15
- 165Hz display refresh rate
- Battery capacity above 7,500mAh
- ColorOS 17 software, rather than OxygenOS 17
A 165Hz panel could support smoother interface motion and compatible games, though it does not mean every title will run at 165 frames per second. The battery would also exceed the 7,400mAh capacity reported for the previous generation, although real-world endurance will depend on display, chipset and software efficiency.
Brar further claims that the same hardware is being tested under the realme brand, pointing to a possible shared platform. The OnePlus 16R is tentatively expected in December 2026 or early 2027, but its launch markets, pricing and final specifications remain unconfirmed.
