OPPO has confirmed that the Watch S2 will be introduced in China on September 22 alongside the Find X10 phone series. The smartwatch keeps the round design of its predecessor while measuring 8.9 mm thick and weighing 34.4 grams without its strap.

A new FatMax mode is designed for workouts focused on fat burning. It uses personal data including height, weight, age, sex and activity level to calculate an individual heart-rate zone in which the body is expected to burn fat most efficiently. OPPO says the algorithm continues adapting as the watch is worn, and can estimate and display the grams of fat burned in real time during exercise.

The Watch S2 also adds an upgraded health-sensing system with ECG measurements and tracking for wrist temperature, blood-oxygen saturation and heart rate. OPPO claims its optical sensor handles interference 75% better than the previous generation, while workout heart-rate tracking reaches 98.8% accuracy. Those performance figures have not yet been independently verified.

Battery life is rated at up to 10 days in a power-saving mode, around seven days under normal use and roughly four days with the always-on display enabled. The watch can connect to two phones simultaneously, while its Watch Fluid Cloud feature is intended to show live updates from food-delivery, ride-hailing and navigation services.

Pre-orders are already open in China in Vibrant Orange, Misty Powder and Mountain Shadow Grey finishes, although OPPO has not announced pricing. The original Watch S launched in China from CNY 1,499 and later reached international markets at about €259. Whether the Watch S2 will receive a global release remains unconfirmed.
