Samsung has just confirmed that it will be providing the Gingerbread Android 2.3 update for the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab devices in Mid-May. The rollout will begin with the Galaxy S units in the UK and Nordic countries, following with the rest of the globe, “according to the regional plan”.

The 7 inch Galaxy Tab already received Android 2.3 in Italy, it seems and along with the tablet and the Galaxy S other models like the Ace, Gio, Fit and Mini will get Gingerbread. What this upgrade brings is faster performance, better usability, improved copy paste functionality and enhanced graphics.

The upgrade will come via Kies and hopefully we won’t see the same problems with Gingerbread launch like we did in mid-April.
