Samsung plans to add new parental controls to Galaxy phones and tablets in 2027, allowing parents or guardians to require approval before a child can open selected apps. The feature is intended to cover both preinstalled software and apps downloaded after a device is set up.
Apps awaiting approval will appear grayed out and cannot be opened until an adult authorizes them, Samsung says. Parents will be able to approve or block access from their own Galaxy phone rather than needing to handle the child’s device each time.
Samsung recommends setting up a family group before installing the update. Children aged 13 and older can be invited to a Samsung family group, while children under 13 will need a Samsung Child Account. The controls are managed through Samsung Parental Controls.

Samsung’s system can operate alongside Google Family Link. If an app is restricted through either service, the appropriate approval will still be required before it can be used. Samsung has not yet identified the specific One UI version that will bring the changes or published a complete list of affected apps.
