Sony Ericsson has just announced the Jalou clamshell, a fashion phone that comes with a facet-cut jewel form case that’s stylish and elegant. Expect the handset to hit the market in Q4, when there will also be a Dolce&Gabbana version available, with real 24 carat gold plating and rose colouring.

Sony Ericsson Jalou is a compact fashion phone that features a 3.2 megapixel camera with video recording, Stereo FM radio, a music player, Bluetooth 2.0, Mirror Key, Walk Mate step counter and instant messaging plus email. YouTube is also supported, as are 3D games, video playback, all of these inside a “package” that weighs only 84 grams.

The new fashion handset supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz connectivity and UMTS/HSPA 900/1700/2100 Mhz and it’ll be available in the fourth quarter 2009 in Deep Amethyst, Aquamarine Blue and Onyx Black. Jalou’s specs list is rounded up by the camera’s 3.2x digital zoom, geotagging, photo fix, the PlayNow and TrackID features and A-GPS + Google Maps.

There’s also a Dolce&Gabbana version of the phone, a special limited edition, with a 73mm long facet cut jewel form and exclusive packing and accessories (3 silky roses satin bags, a D&G headset with gold accents, exclusive D&G content).
