The Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro Max turns its charging case into a portable recording interface, with on-case controls for capturing conversations and an AI workflow for transcription and summaries in the Soundcore app. The feature is designed for meetings, presentations and other spoken recordings, shifting the product beyond a conventional pair of wireless earbuds.

The case has a 1.78-inch AMOLED touch display built into its sliding lid. It can also show battery status, control playback, switch listening modes, adjust sound settings, run face-to-face translation and act as a remote shutter for a connected phone’s camera. Direct sunlight can reduce the display’s readability, according to testing.

The AI Note-Taker uses the case’s microphone to record audio, while transcription and summarization are handled through the Soundcore app. The service includes 120 free recording minutes per month for 24 months; additional transcription capacity is tied to paid plans or recording-minute packages. The available workflow includes meeting minutes, discussions and presentations, with summary formats such as chapter summaries, debriefs and briefs. More than 50 languages are supported.

Earbuds, audio and connectivity

The earbuds use 9.2mm drivers, an oval in-ear design and stabilizing wings, with five ear-tip sizes included. They carry an IP55 rating for protection against sweat, splashes and rain. The companion app offers an eight-band equalizer, presets, customizable touch gestures and HearID-based hearing personalization. Dolby Audio replaces the earlier EQ settings and disables AI Sound Enhancement when active.

For noise control, Soundcore provides adaptive ANC plus five manual levels, a transparency mode and wind-noise reduction. A speech-detection option can lower audio to make nearby voices easier to hear. The Liberty 5 Pro Max supports Bluetooth 6.1 and can maintain connections with up to three devices.

- SBC codec support
- AAC codec support
- LDAC codec support

Soundcore rates the earbuds for up to 12 hours without ANC or 6.5 hours with ANC enabled. Including the case, the quoted totals are up to 50 hours without ANC and 28 hours with it. Each earbud has a 62mAh battery, while the case is rated at 690mAh. A five-minute charge is claimed to provide up to four hours of music playback, and a full earbud charge takes roughly one hour. Extended recording use and frequent activation of the case display can reduce case battery life more quickly.

The Liberty 5 Pro Max shares its acoustic foundation with the Liberty 5 Pro, according to the review, while the Max model’s distinction is the screen-equipped case and AI features rather than a claimed step up in sound quality. The practical value of those extras will depend on whether users are willing to rely on a subscription-backed transcription service after the included monthly minutes are used.
