UBTECH has opened a humanoid-robot production plant in Liuzhou, China, designed to produce more than 10,000 units annually. The facility is planned to turn out one humanoid robot every 10 minutes, while robots on the line transport and handle components used in production.

The operation is a notable example of industrial automation being used to scale humanoid-robot manufacturing. It does not mean the factory is fully autonomous or that robots can independently reproduce themselves; human involvement remains part of the process.

The broader employment impact of humanoid robotics remains uncertain. A Reuters investigation into China’s humanoid-robot sector found that current machines still face major limitations in dexterity, adaptability and reliability. Robots that perform polished demonstrations can be far less capable when confronted with unexpected conditions on a factory floor.

That gap is important as companies push humanoids beyond demonstrations and into industrial roles. UBTECH’s projected production scale points to accelerating supply, but reliable deployment in unpredictable real-world tasks remains the more consequential milestone.
