Universal Studios have just announced that they’ll be releasing the very first iPhone app that controls Blu-ray features, together with the special edition of the Fast & Furious movie, available on July 28.

If you’re an iPhone or iPod Touch user, you’ll control certain Blu-ray features via WiFi. For example, in Fast & Furious, you’ll take a tour in the Virtual Car Garage, checking out the cars’ specs and 360 degree views of them.

The next Universal Blu-ray releases will have users downloading bonus content on their iPhones and iPod Touch units, plus the users will be given the chance to view some extra info regarding the movie, the cast and even a social networking feature. The latter will change your status or account info in order to let people know you’re watching a Blu-ray movie.
