ViewSonic has been known for its Android tablets till now, but they also have big plans for the handset market now. Forbes recently reported that we’re to expect an unveiling of the ViewPhone 3 handset at CES 2012, a dual SIM android phone that’s intended for Latin America and other emerging markets.

The device will be sold unlocked in the USA and it will come to AT&T and T-Mobile, with a price tag of around $250. ViewPhone 3 runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, features a 3.5 inch display, a 5 megapixel camera, an 800 MHz Qualcomm processor and 512MB of RAM. ViewSonic intends to sell the phone to consumers directly through its website and honestly speaking this doesn’t sound like much of a purchase. For this kind of money I’d rather take the Amazon Kindle Fire and a lower end handset.

It’s true that we don’t see so many Android phones with dual SIM slots, but Motorola and Samsung have this area covered, so why go with ViewSonic? We’ll see in the following days that this unit is capable of…
