YouTube is testing a desktop interface change that moves the Dislike button into the three-dot overflow menu for a limited number of accounts. The experiment makes negative feedback less immediately accessible, as users must open a secondary menu rather than select the thumbs-down control directly.

Reports and screenshots shared on X and Reddit point to at least two versions of the test interface. In both, the thumbs-down button is no longer shown alongside the standard video controls, though the scope of the trial appears limited for now.

The test follows YouTube’s 2021 decision to hide public dislike counts. YouTube Shorts has also used a more menu-driven approach since 2026, placing “Not interested” and “Don’t recommend this channel” in a separate menu. Those controls can shape recommendations, but require additional taps compared with a visible Dislike button.

Google has not confirmed that the desktop change will become permanent. Reaction to the reported test on Reddit has been largely negative, with users questioning whether YouTube is further reducing the visibility of negative feedback.
