Adobe has added its Generative Media Tool to Premiere, letting video editors create video clips, sound effects, ambient audio and music directly within a project timeline. The company is also introducing an AI Assistant for After Effects that can analyze and modify complex compositions through natural-language requests.
In Premiere, editors can select a gap or position in the timeline, describe the content they need and generate an editable result intended to fit the surrounding project. The Generate Video feature can use reference imagery from the project to create footage that visually matches existing shots, including material designed to bridge gaps between clips.
Adobe’s own Firefly models are not the only option in the tool. Premiere users can also choose partner models from Google Veo, Kling, Runway and Luma.

The release extends generative AI to several audio tasks. Generate Sound Effects can create effects in the timeline, with an editor’s voice usable to convey rhythm and intensity. Generate Soundscape analyzes up to 15 seconds of video to build synchronized ambience and effects, while Generate Music produces original music with variations, tempo controls and looping options.
Premiere is also receiving Enhance Audio for noise reduction, Separate Crosstalk for isolating two people speaking at the same time, and Dynamic Auto Ducking to automatically balance dialogue, music and other audio elements. Auto Color can adjust a clip’s or entire sequence’s color temperature and exposure with one click.

After Effects’ AI Assistant is designed to work across an entire project rather than on a single element. Adobe says it can inspect projects containing thousands of layers, detect and address technical issues, and create motion-graphics effects and expressions without requiring code. It can examine compositions and source assets before changes are made, while the editor retains control over which modifications are applied.
Related assistant functions in Premiere can organize assets, rename multiple clips at once and add markers. Adobe is also adding Frame.io Mounted Storage, allowing full-resolution cloud media to be placed directly in a timeline without manually downloading files to a computer.

The Generative Media Tool is now available in Premiere. Generate Soundscape, Generate Music, the new audio features and the After Effects AI Assistant are in different beta stages, leaving their broader rollout timing to be confirmed.
