Amazon has introduced Echo Time, a smart alarm clock designed to monitor sleep from the bedside rather than from a smartwatch or fitness band. The device detects whether someone is in bed and analyzes breathing patterns without using a camera, then can time an alarm for a lighter stage of sleep within a user-defined window.
The system uses Amazon’s Omnisense technology, which combines ultrasound with sensor data including ambient temperature. Users can set a smart-wake window between 10 and 60 minutes, allowing Echo Time to choose when to sound the alarm instead of triggering it at one fixed time.
- Echo Time has a 3.2-inch circular touchscreen and gradually increases alarm volume.
- The display automatically reduces blue light in the evening, and the device supports up to four snooze intervals.
- Alexa+ integration supports morning routines, reminders and relaxing music playback.
Amazon includes physical microphone controls, while sleep monitoring can be disabled in the companion app. Alexa+ is initially included and is expected to remain free for Prime subscribers. Other users will be able to take a €22.99 monthly subscription later; Amazon says it will not activate automatically.
- Echo Time starts at €214.99.
- An adjustable stand is priced separately at €39.99.
- Echo Time Kids costs €224.99 and includes one year of Amazon Kids+, along with parental bedtime-control features.
Amazon has not specified launch timing or availability by market, leaving it unclear where the bedside sleep-tracking device will first be sold.
