Over the past week I’ve seen quite a bunch of major phone makers announcing that they’ll offer Android 4.0 upgrades as soon as possible. Sony Ericsson and HTC will probably deliver them in early 2012, while Motorola promised to offer Ice Cream Sandwich as soon as 6 weeks after Google launches it. Now it’s Samsung’s turn…

Samsung Italy has just confirmed that the new Android will be available on the Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus in 2012. The exact time frame isn’t known, but early 2012 would be a good guess… Considering Samsung’s track record of facing delays when it comes to software, I advise you not to get your hopes up.

Meanwhile, LG is giving no sign of love towards Ice Cream Sandwich, instead they have bad news for the LG Optimus 2X owners: no update for them at all, so that’s just sad. To be honest, the list of Samsung devices compatible with the new Android is kind of short, considering the company’s huge portofolio.
