Apple has introduced the Watch Series 12, bringing a redesigned sensor system intended to improve health tracking alongside the new S11 chip. The smartwatch starts at €449 and will be offered in aluminum, titanium and ceramic finishes.
The rear sensor array has larger electrodes for improved skin contact during ECG readings. Apple has also arranged the photodiodes in a ring to capture light more efficiently and fitted larger, more energy-efficient green LEDs for heart-rate monitoring. Measurements are collected more frequently and surface in an updated Heart Rate app and new watch-face complications.

Apple says the Series 12 delivers its most accurate heart-rate tracking on a wearable, citing tests during running, cycling and HIIT workouts. A new Readiness feature will assess recent activity, sleep and vital signs each morning to produce a preparedness score.

The aluminum models come in Space Gray, Black, Light Gold and Dark Bronze, with Ceramic Shield covering the display. Apple claims the material improves display durability by 60%. Polished titanium versions will be sold in Radiant Gold and Natural, while ceramic options arrive in Pearl White and Night Blue.
Apple is also planning a redesigned Health app with personalized recommendations based on Apple Intelligence. Its Health Age feature combines data including VO2 max and sleep with biomarkers from blood tests to estimate how a person’s physical condition compares with their chronological age. A Longevity section will bring together sleep, activity and cardiovascular-health information. In the US, a Quest panel covering more than 50 biomarkers will be available for $119.

The S11 also enables new audio-processing features. Sound Recognition can identify alarms, doorbells and a crying baby, while Live Rewind displays a transcript of the previous 15 seconds of conversation. Siri Recap can turn conversations into titles, summaries and key points; Apple says the watch does not create or retain audio recordings for that feature.

Siri Recap is due to enter beta later this year, initially in English. The updated Health app is also scheduled to reach users before the end of the year, leaving the rollout timing for both software additions as the next key detail for Series 12 buyers.
