Google is expanding advertising in AI Mode to 10 markets while testing a new US ad format that can surface sponsored products during follow-up questions in an ongoing AI-assisted search conversation. AI Mode is Google’s Gemini-powered search experience.
The newly announced AI Mode ad rollout covers the following markets:
- Australia
- Canada
- India
- Kenya
- Malaysia
- New Zealand
- Nigeria
- Pakistan
- Philippines
- Singapore
Google also plans to bring AI Mode ads to further regions by the end of 2026, including Brazil, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

In the US, the company is introducing “multiturn ads,” allowing sponsored placements to appear after users ask additional questions on the same topic. A search for a smartphone with long battery life and strong cameras, for example, could show promoted merchant products among the results. Those placements will carry a “Sponsored” label.
Google says AI Mode queries are, on average, three times longer than conventional searches, giving users more room to specify what they need. The company says clicks on sponsored products are already comparable with clicks on organic AI Mode results.
The broader rollout will test whether Google can extend that advertising model without weakening the fast, relevant answers AI Mode is designed to provide.
