HTC Corporation, maker of famous HTC smartphones has just announced that it’ll move on to using Super LCD displays (SLCD) on its devices. These models include Nexus One and HTC Desire and the implementation will take place till the end of the summer.

The reason for this swap? As PC World claims in a recent article, the current AMOLED screens supplied by Samsung suffer from shortage issues, so a replacement is needed. The SLCD screens are bound to offer a “comparable visual experience” to current AMOLED screens and they also have the advantage of increasing battery life.

SLCD screens are 5 times less power hungry than Samsung’s AMOLED displays.
