Huawei is reportedly testing a future Pura smartphone equipped with two 200MP cameras: a primary sensor and a periscope telephoto unit. Tipster Digital Chat Station is said to have identified the device in testing, while Huawei Central has linked the project to a possible Pura 100 Pro Max model. Any launch is still rumored to be targeted for 2027.

The reported camera setup would represent a substantial shift for the Pura line, pairing high-resolution imaging on both the main and long-range cameras rather than reserving the 200MP sensor for telephoto duties.

  • A 200MP primary camera using a 1/1.3-inch sensor.
  • A 200MP periscope telephoto camera using a 1/1.4-inch sensor.
  • Support for an external teleconverter accessory intended to extend optical zoom capabilities.

Huawei has already explored dedicated camera accessories with the Mate 90 series, making an external teleconverter a plausible continuation of that approach. It remains unclear, however, whether the alleged 200MP main camera would retain variable-aperture hardware.

The Pura 90 Pro Max is described as using a 50MP, 1/1.28-inch main sensor with an f/1.4–f/4.0 variable aperture, alongside a 40MP ultrawide camera, a 200MP telephoto camera and a color sensor. One possibility is that Huawei could keep a 50MP main camera on a Pro Max variant while assigning the dual-200MP configuration to a Pura 100 Pro model, but the product lineup has not been confirmed.

Huawei has presented the Pura 90s Pro and Pura 90s Pro Max internationally, with euro pricing reported at their July introduction and distribution planned in stages. That history makes a wider launch for a future Pura 100 conceivable, but regional availability, final camera hardware and the device’s eventual name remain unconfirmed.
