Alltel Wireless and LG just announced a new Android smartphone, the LG Axis model. This is a versatile phone with customizable apps and entertainment features, plus syncing ability. It comes with Android 2.1 as the default OS and support for Android Market applications.

The device also uses Google Maps Navigation with voice aid and its features include a 3.2MP camera with video capture support and 4x zoom. WiFi and 3G connectivity are also on the feature list, as well as Bluetooth wireless technology and multi-function usage (listen to music while surfing the web).

You can get the handset for $89.99 after a $50 mail in rebate with a 2 year contract.
