Renault Group has introduced the new Dacia Spring, updating its entry-level electric car with an 80 hp motor, a 27.5 kWh LFP battery and a claimed range of 250 km. Prices start at €18,000, while deliveries are expected toward the end of the year.
The EV produces 175 Nm of torque, weighs 1,212 kg and is quoted at 12.1 seconds for 0-100 km/h, with a 120 km/h top speed. A 6.6 kW AC charger is included, and DC charging at up to 50 kW can replenish the battery from 15% to 80% in 28 minutes.
Dacia has enlarged the car to 3.85 metres long and 1.74 metres wide, increases of 15 cm and 18 cm respectively over the first-generation model. Its wheelbase measures 2,493 mm. Boot space is rated at 337 litres, expanding to 1,283 litres with the rear seats folded; an optional 18-litre front trunk is also available.
Built on the RG EV Small platform and based on the Renault Twingo, the new Spring adopts a more upright, rugged-looking design. It uses LED headlights and rear lighting, while the charging port has moved from the front badge area to the right side of the vehicle.
Inside, the Spring follows the layout of recent Dacia models with a semi-digital instrument panel, infotainment system and YouClip accessory mounting points. The model is assembled in Slovenia, with market-by-market availability details still to be confirmed.
