Xiaomi has brought near-tablet screen dimensions to its entry-level REDMI Note 17 line. The REDMI Note 17 and REDMI Note 17 5G both use a 6.99-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel, paired with a 7,700mAh silicon-carbon battery and 45W charging. The key split is below the surface: one is a 4G handset powered by a Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2, while the other moves to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 and 5G connectivity.

Both phones have a 2,396 x 1,080-pixel display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, peak brightness of 1,800 nits and Gorilla Glass 7i protection. Xiaomi also lists Wet Touch 2.0 support and an IP65 rating for the pair.

Memory configurations vary by market, but Xiaomi’s European listings start the 4G model at 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while verified 5G-market configurations begin with 6GB of RAM. Both use LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, and retain a hybrid microSD slot supporting cards of up to 2TB.

Camera hardware is unchanged between the two models. Each carries a single 50MP f/1.8 rear camera and a 16MP front camera, with rear video recording limited to 1080p at 30fps. The handsets use plastic frames and backs; Xiaomi lists the 5G version at 8.45mm thick and 225g, just one gram heavier than the 4G model.

The 7,700mAh battery supports 45W wired charging and wired reverse charging at up to 22.5W. Xiaomi says the cells retain at least 80% of their capacity after 1,600 charging cycles and claims more than two days of use, though real-world endurance will depend on network conditions and usage.

Software features include AI Erase Pro, AI Sky, AI Image Expansion, Google Gemini and Circle to Search in compatible markets. HyperIsland is also present around the front camera, and Xiaomi promises six years of security updates. International pricing and wider market availability have not been confirmed in the supplied information.
