Samsung Electronics has just introduced a new clamshell phone, Samsung SPH-W9705, a device meant for the toughest of uses and situations. It’s protected against falls from up above, dust, liquids, strokes and we know that it’ll only be sold via the local mobile operator KT in South Korea.

The target audience for this handset are the folks with active lifestyles and those involved in extreme sports. Samsung SPH-W9705 supports HSDPA 3.6 Mbps connectivity, incorporates a 2.4 inch TFT display with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution and an external screen with a 1.07 inch diagonal and a 96 x 96 pixel resolution.

A 2 megapixel camera is also on board, together with 83MB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, WLAN, Bluetooth and GPS. The new Samsung clamshell phone uses an electronic compass, a pedometer, altimeter and SOS function.
